AZTECA UNO PREMIERES LA ISLA, CHALLENGE IN TURKEY AND GREECE, ADAPTATION OF CARACOL’S SUCCESSFUL FORMAT “EL DESAFÍO”

After seven successful seasons, the Mexican channel Azteca Uno has launched the highly anticipated eighth season of ‘La Isla,’ an adaptation of Caracol Televisión’s original format ‘El Desafío,’ which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2024.

This new adventure began in Greece, a place with a fascinating history that has shaped the course of the world, visiting locations such as Athens and Attica, before continuing in Turkey, the nation that captivated the audience last year with its spectacular cities and culture. Participants will visit cities like Edirne, Bolu, Çanakkale, Izmir, Sparta, Antalya, Mersin, and Istanbul.

Lisette Osorio, VP of International Business at Caracol, highlighted: “El Desafío constantly evolves, never allowing itself to fall into a comfort zone, which is reflected in its continual reinventions. This approach is also evident in its international adaptations, as seen this time, where for the first time it is produced in two countries in one season. ‘La Isla, Challenge Greece and Turkey’ promises to captivate viewers with its challenging tests and exciting twists. We are confident that the strength and universality of ‘El Desafío’s’ narrative will resonate once again with the audience, and we are eager to see how they immerse themselves in this exciting adventure.”

For this season, Alejandro Lukini returned as host, guiding the challengers through various games that promise to be innovative, more dynamic, and complex. Each participant must be prepared for physical exertion, as weather conditions, location changes, and lack of food can take their toll.

This new adaptation of the format retains all the elements that made it the favorite reality show of the Mexican audience. This time, 12 celebrities, including influencers, actors, beauty queens, and former soccer players, will compete for the prize of 100,000 USD.
