“The Dance of Life” includes various telenovelas in one. They talk about love’s multiple dimensions: young love forbidden by family feuds, love that fights against racial discrimination, the dark love of lovers, ambitious people’s possessive love, the paranoid love of an older man, difficult love between the rich and the poor and even ungrateful love when children forget their parents. There are seven musicians, seven lives and seven conflicts that continuously intertwine to create a narrative where something is always happening and music is what unifies their destinies. When the characters are about to sink in desperation, one of them suggests they form a tropical music orchestra. This presents itself as the platform for their salvation. The stories of “The Dance of Life” take place in the context of the 1950’s in the capital. It was a time of dancing halls and large live bands; the time of “porro”, the “gaita” and the “merecumbe”. Cesar Zambrano, an average bass player, will have to fight for Lina Forero’s love. This beautiful singer is also approached by Tito Ortiz, the most successful orchestra director of the moment. It will be the fight between good and evil, between wealth and economic limitations. In this fight, Lina will have to debate between dictates of her heart and her mind. (El baile de la vida).
